Listening is a basic skill in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) acquisition. However, it is one of the skills with the highest difficulty levels for students. The issue with listening difficulty could be solved if alternative listening media such as Spotify audiobooks could enhance listening skills. The aim of this paper is to identify and probe further into the role and effect of listening to Spotify audiobooks to enhance the listening skills of eleventh-grade EFL students. This study utilizes a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach with a control and experimental group. The experimental group gained benefits through listening skills taught using Spotify audiobooks. The control group gained benefits using normal listening media. Both groups took pre-tests and post-tests using listening skills questions. The results showed the Mann-Whitney U Test proved there was a significant difference between both group (p<0.05) because it showed a large effect size. Moreover, the gain score analysis has also established the significance of improvement differences between two groups with a large to very large effect size. In conclusion, Spotify audiobooks are media with authentic listening content and could play a very effective role in developing listening skills for EFL students.
