Information For Authors

Guidelines for Submissions

The Editorial Board welcomes articles and research reports on ELT that have never been published elsewhere. All manuscripts must be sent by uploading them to the Open Journal System (OJS) through the journal's Make a Submission. First, the
author must register an account. Next, the author needs to log in using the registered account, then make a submission in the system. Submissions sent by email will not be processed. The writing guidelines are as follows:

  1. Manuscripts should be written in English in Micro Soft Word document (DOCX/DOC), single-spaced, font 12, Times New Roman in A4 paper (left 3 cm, right 3 cm, top 3 cm, and bottom 3 cm), 4,500 to 7,000 words in length including references and appendices.
  2. The manuscript can be based on a research paper, which reports interesting and relevant research, or non-research papers, which provide detailed, contextualized reports of aspects of ELT.
    1. A research article (get the Template) should consist of:
      • Title (bold typed and centered)
      • An abstract of approximately should not be  more than 200 words
      • Keywords
      • Introduction (without subtitle, containing the background of the study, a short review of literature, research gap, and statement of problem/purpose of the study)
      • Method
      • Findings and Discussion
      • Conclusion and Suggestions
      • References (only the ones included in the body of the article)
      • Appendices (if any)
    2. A non-research/Review manuscript (see the Template) should consist of:
      • Title (bold typed and centered)
      • An abstract of approximately should not be  more than 200 words
      • Keywords
      • Introduction (without subtitle, presents the background of the problem the paper addresses, limitation of the problem to discuss, motivation/justification for reviewing or an explanation of the relevance of the paper, and the organization of the paper. If the review is narrative, this section ends with information about applied methods. A narrative review does not include the "Materials and Methods" section.
      • Methods (for 'Best-Evidence Review' and 'Systematic Review') which describe the data sources (e.g. bibliographic databases), search terms and search strategies, selection criteria (inclusion/exclusion of studies), the number of studies screened, and the number of studies included, and statistical methods of meta-analysis.
      • Finding and Discussion
      • Conclusion and Suggestions
      • References (only the ones included in the body of the article)
      • Appendices (if any)
  3. To facilitate the blind review process, the author's name, affiliation, and email address should appear only on a cover sheet, not on the title. 
  4. When submitting a manuscript, the information required in the metadata should be completed, particularly every author's name, email address, and affiliation. The information recorded  in the metadata is kept as a benchmark. All authors must have contributed significantly to this research. The editor does not accept additions or deletions of author names, especially after the article is published.
  5. All manuscripts should conform to the 7th Edition of APA Style, and citing and referencing using the Mendeley App is recommended.
  6. Manuscripts should be sent as Word documents through the journal's Make a Submission platform. Submission in other formats will not be processed.
  7. The editorial team reserves the right to reject manuscripts that contain a similarity rate exceeding 10%. Only manuscripts with an overall similarity index of 10% or less are considered for publication.
  8. Manuscripts that do not adhere to the journal’s scope, style, length, language accuracy, tolerable plagiarism rate, or referencing style guidelines will be rejected. Authors are welcome to revise their submissions to meet these criteria; however, revised manuscripts must be submitted as new submissions.
  9. The corresponding author will receive a written notification regarding whether the manuscript has been accepted for review or rejected within four weeks after the initial submission date.
  10. Manuscripts that meet preliminary screenings will undergo a double-blind review.
  11. Peer reviewers will review articles. The editors reserve the right to edit the article for format consistency without altering the substance.
  12. Authors can expect a period of three to six months from submission to acceptance, assuming that no more than minor revisions are required.
  13. All editorial processes are centralized in the OJS platform of JET. Editorial communication through email will not be responded.
  14. All articles are published online only.
  15. The editorial team reserves the right to turn down manuscripts without stating the reasons.
  16. Manuscripts that are not published rightfully belong to the author(s) and can be sent to other
    journals.
  17. Contributors should consult the current Guide for Contributors before submitting articles, as this contains important information about the focus and format of articles. Articles submitted not in accordance with the Guide will not be considered for the editorial process.
