Abstract

At-Taqwa Grand Mosque in Southeast Acch not only functions as a place of worship, but also as a symbol of the cultural identity of the local community and a religious tourist destination for visitors to the city of Cane. This study aims to explore the application of ethnomathematics in the architectural design of mosques that combine local cultural elements with Eastern European design influences in accordance with Islamic principles. The research method used is qualitative with an ethnomathematics and descriptive design approach. The focus of the study is on the relationship between geometric aspects, such as symmetry and rotation in mosque architecture, and the cultural values of the community. The results of the study show that the application of mathematical principles in mosque design not only enriches the community's understanding of the relationship between geometry and culture but also supports cultural preservation and strengthens local identity amid globalization. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of ethnomathematics studies in Indonesia and its application in education and culture
