Anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum capsici is one of the major constraints in chili
cultivation, as it significantly reduces yield and fruit quality. Continuous application of synthetic
fungicides may result in environmental pollution, health problems, and the development of
pathogen resistance, highlighting the need for environmentally friendly control alternatives. This
study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of botanical pesticides derived from noni leaves
(Morinda citrifolia), galangal (Alpinia galanga), and turmeric (Curcuma longa) on the growth of
Colletotrichum capsici under in vitro conditions. The experiment was conducted at the Plant
Protection Laboratory of the Ketindan Agricultural Training Center using the poisoned food
technique on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium. Treatments consisted of botanical pesticide
concentrations of 0% (control), 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The inhibitory activity was determined
by measuring fungal colony diameter and calculating the percentage of growth inhibition. The
results showed that botanical pesticides from noni leaves, galangal, and turmeric were able to
suppress the growth of Colletotrichum capsici, with higher concentrations resulting in greater
inhibition. These findings indicate that noni leaves, galangal, and turmeric have potential as
effective and environmentally friendly botanical fungicides for controlling anthracnose disease in
chili plants.
