Abstract

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine how the use of Wordwall media affects

students’ interest in learning chemistry. This study is a descriptive quantitative

research carried out in class XI MIPA 2 of SMAN 18 Jakarta in July 2020 with a total

sample of 31 students. The research instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of

four indicators, each with five statements, so that the total number of statements was

20. The prerequisite tests included normality and homogeneity tests. The results

showed that the data were homogeneous but not normally distributed; therefore, a

nonparametric statistical test was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. The significance

value (2-tailed) was 0.000, and since 0.000 < 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was

accepted while the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Furthermore, an n-gain test was

conducted, and the average score obtained was 0.6, which falls into the medium

category. Based on data processing results, it can be concluded that: 1) the use of

Wordwall media supports the student learning process, 2) it provides positive impacts

for both students and educators, and 3) it increases students’ interest in learning.

Overall, Wordwall media is proven to be very useful in enhancing students’ interest in

learning chemistry.
