Upaya pemberantasan dan pencegahan penyakit kecacingan di Indonesia secara nasional dimulai tahun 1975 dan berhasil menurunkan prevalensi pada tahun 2003 sampai 8,9%. Namun pada dekade terakhir terjadi peningkatan prevalensi kecacingan termasuk di DKI Jakarta yang merupakan ibu kota Indonesia, terutama pada anak usia Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi dan jenis cacing yang menginfeksi siswa di SDN Paseban Jakarta Pusat serta mengetahui faktor yang mempengaruhi infeksi tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2010 terhadap 113 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan prevalensi kecacingan siswa SDN Paseban Jakarta Pusat adalah 11,5% dengan spesies Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura serta infeksi campur A. lumbricoides dan T. trichiura. Faktor yang mempengaruhi kecacingan adalah umur, kelas dan kebiasaan cuci tangan sebelum makan sementara kejadian kecacingan tidak ditentukan oleh jenis kelamin, perilaku suka jajan, kebiasaan bermain di tanah dan kebersihan kuku.Kata kunci: Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, kebiasaan, demografiAbstract Worm infection caused by soil transmitted helminths (STH) is a public health problem in Indonesia. Eradication and prevention of the disease was started in 1975 and in 2003 its prevalence has been decreased to 8.9%. But, in the last decade the disease resurge as shown in the increase of the prevalence especially in elementary school age children. This study search for the prevalence of worms infection among elementary school children of SDN X Pagi Paseban, Central Jakarta as well as factors that affect the infection. The study was conducted in December 2010 on 113 students. The results showed that the prevalence of intestinal worms infection of SDN Paseban Central Jakarta students is 11.5% which caused by Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura. Furthermore, mixed infections of A. lumbricoides and T. trichiura was also detected. Factors affecting the worms infection are age - class level and hand washing habit while the incident is not determined by gender, eating snacks habit, playing in soil and nail hygiene.Key words: Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, habit, demography ER -
