Furthermore, it should not contaminate the environment and has a long term effect. A biological agent namely Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) which is toxic for Diptera larvae has been used. It is safe for humans and has a long term effect to control the DHF vector Ae. aegypti. Bti is a rod-shaped spore-forming gram positive bacteria which is entomotoxic. It could be applied as an agent to eliminate larvae. The especially targets are the Anopheles, Culex, Aedes mosquitoes larvae and black flies (Simulium). There are two types of toxin: CYT (cytolytic) and Cry (crystal). They have the capability to form pores in the insect gut. Then, it causes the fluid leakage, resulting in the larvae death. Bti was applied in the permanent mosquito breeding places in which the water does not flow. For example the water in the container. To control the Ae. Aegypti larvae in the field, Bti should be applied in a slow release form. Therefore, the effectiveness could last longer.
